Stevens 200 and Savage 110F...same stock?
« on: February 15, 2006, 02:47:43 PM »
Could someone who knows FOR SURE tell me if the Stevens 200 in 270 Win. is the exact same stock as the Savage 110F (other than the color)?

I've ordered a Stevens 200 (270 Win.) from Walmart and was thinking about getting a Ramline, Richards or Boyds, to replace the cheap grey factory stock.

Does the Stevens have the same pillar bedding as Savage?

Also, what seems to be everyone's impression of the Stevens-good or bad. I know they don't have the Accutrigger, but do they shoot as good as a Savage?

For only $268, I thought it would at least serve the purpose as my "rainy day rifle" for when I don't want to take out my more expensive rifles.

Great rifles fot the money, trigger can be adjusted. I have 2, 7-08 and 25-06. I like the stock.....very accurate rifles, not too heavy. Will get another one or two...223..........243....

I put a custom 2 rifle basic trigger into a stevens 200 that was a 308 win. stevens 200 sporter..dropped it into a used salvage Savage laminate varmint stock..needed only minor fitting/skim coat of bedding... plus a set of long action screws to work.ten bucks for the screws delivered from savage...it is now a 6.5 X 284 pac-nor barreled long range wonder...Savage & Stevens rifles are just so cool for tool shed gunsmiths..MADE IN AMERICA...that laminated varmint stock is big & heavy..I think u can do better on price using boyds or sss unfinished models..but if u can get a used one finished under a hundred bucks the factory stock is a good one....Ask in the classified ads here  or check E-bay for used parts...mine was 30 bucks for one delivered...I cant thank that guy enough..I removed the epoxy bedding to fit my re-barrelled action put in new barrel bedding & done!! it shoots to an inch at 200 yds..first time out !!! mike in ct

The gunsmith at Gander told me that the stocks were interchangable... I was liek "whaaaa?!" so he showed me. Pulled a used stevens off the rack, swapped on the stock from a savage adn voila.... He said he'd put on the savage stock and throw in mounts and rings, install and bore sight if I bought the gun and scope there. That was 8 months ago, but when the time comes, I'm gonna go see him... ;)
