« on: September 17, 2006, 05:43:45 AM »

Anyone order from Cabelas,Bass Pro Shops,or Red Head .... Well guess what now were gonna have to pay a "Sales or Use" tax - this applies for anything bought out of state. and on the new from it says you can't leave it blank.

My wife is taking a tax course and shared this info with me and I thought I would pass it along .....

I believe most states have a S&U tax, it's just that almost no one pays it on out-of-state purchases. I think I'm one of the only people in Connecticut that pays it every year, and that's because I know about it after having run a small business.

This has been around for at least 3 tax years.  See how much Pataki and Spitzer have paid on this one.  The first year, they put ZERO.  These guys and their wives can't just go shopping by themselves, they likely need a trooper escort so they must mail order quite a bit.   If they can put a ZERO, why can't you?   ;D

I feel for you guys! Most folks around the country that I encounter knock NY without having spent any time there. "I see on TV". As a "young" retiree and off on another career with 2 young kids, I had to bail out of the Hudson Valley over high taxes. We were playing that NY sport of pass the baby. I relocated to NC and have found great deer and trout, after a period of adjustment. The tax base permits my wife to be a true stay at home Mom. Sure I miss NY bagels, and real pastrami. How can the average Joe save for anything? I Love NY, but the rat race is over for me!

I thought I would share that with ya all where I live we pay a village tax , town tax , school tax , and property tax -  which turns out to be almost $6,500 a year and to think that all my orders from Cabelas , Bass Pro Shops , etc. are gonna be taxed too - well that sorta burns me up a lil bit.

Thanxs for the complaint time  ;) ....
