Rocky Mountain "Ivory" and Iron
« on: February 08, 2006, 01:05:31 PM »

I had a piece of Elk tine that was a little sun bleached on one side, so I removed all of the exterior to expose the "Ivory" inside!
Guard and butt cap and forged from 1903 end grain wrought iron.
Blued mild steel pommel nut.
My traditional take-down construction.
Blade fully forged from 1" square 5160 and heat treated by the method I learned from Ed Fowler at Willow Bow.
There's plenty of room for all of God's creatures -
right next to the mashed potatoes.

Graceful looking knife. You learned well from Mr. Fowler.

Nice work, I am a fan of elk, never realy liked the heavy textured antler, elk like you said looks a lot like ivory.
The thing about freedom, it's never free
