I did a lot of varmint bullet testing with the .270 several years ago, and learned that in the right rifle the .270 can make a very good varmint cartridge to at least 300 yards. The biggest negative is recoil - you can shoot a lot more with the smaller cartridges without getting a sore shoulder. But if you're after coyote, then that isn't a concern.
I had best luck with the 110-grain and 90-grain Sierras. These gave best accuracy in my barrel, could be driven pretty fast, and were soft enough to expand. The 90-grainer has a very poor BC so it is not the best bullet for beyond 300 yards. I did not try the Hornady 110-grain V-Max but if it shoots accurately in your rifle it would be an excellent choice.
