This is one of those fun projects. After reading Terry Tiertel's article in Tactical Knives about modifying Old Hickory or Ontario skinners into bargin Nessmuks, I got to thinkin'about the Green River Buffalo Skinner. So I ordered one and some Kingwood for the scales. The old Green Rivers were often handled in either Purpleheart or Kingwood. Figured this would sort of be a cross between a Nessmuk and a Green river. Turned out ok, but I wasn't able to quite drop the point enough to eqaul that on the Original Nessmuk. However, I've seen stuff on the internet that folks are calling Nessmuk that must be making the old boy spin in his grave. This one is at least close as far as blade shape goes. Anyone who has ever used a Green River knife knows that they are made of some great steel. They can REALLY hold a great edge. This one also works ok upside down as a field dressing blade and of course is great as a skinner. Blade ended up 4 3/4" long. The bolster is copper with Nickel Silver pins, and the pins in the handle are made from copper tubing with nickel silver pins inserted into the tubing. This is how I kinda relax from making the serious stuff.
