Here's another one: http://www.realguns.com/calc/recoil. I like it because it explains why I tended to flinch shooting a 6.5 lb. 30-06.

I guess it's that old dilemma isn't it?  Do you want the extra accuracy that usually comes with rifle weight, at the price of a heavy gun that has to be lugged around.  Man, there's just no gappy medium is there?  Best wishes.

RIP Cal you are missed by many.

cal sibley -

it doesn't really matter what you carry, its not about how heavy your rifle is or how powerful your magnum shoots, its all about how  YOU SHOOT your rifle, take any rifle and practice with it for a very long time and you should be able to take down any game.  A good rifleman will place his bullet WHEREEVER he/she wishes and a REALLY good rifleman can do that at the most extream cituations (like an animal charging you or a moving animal at high speeds).......if I was THAT rifleman, I would carry with me a 30-06 where-ever I go.

But Because i am not that rifleman, I have calibers in 300 RUM / 30-06 / 375 h&h and such
