Took the 16 ga Dove Hunting Yesterday
« on: December 27, 2005, 03:54:25 AM »
Yes, Texas has a second Dove season.

I went out yesterday, stalking the Dove in cedar using the new 16 ga Stoeger SxS.  The gun was lighter, had a great swing and mounted quicker than the 12 ga.

I have to say the 16 ga is a great bird gun, itdid not let me down.  The kick was much lighter but it seemed like it had the same knock down power as the 12 ga.

The 16 is an awesome gun. Welcome to the club. Carries like a 20 hits like a 12. My 16ga pump Model 31 is my rabbitt & Squirell gun.

Here is a good place to check out other 16ga nuts.

Happy shooting!

I am really having a great time with the 16 ga.  However, the Stoeger 16 ga. is on the same frame as the 12 ga.  According to Stoeger specs the 16 ga. is .1 lb lighter than the 12 ga.  It feels like .5 lbs lighter to me.  My scale confirms this weight difference.

Interesting on the weight. I have some old 1 1/4 oz #4's Duck loads that would be interesting to run through the stoeger
