Ruger 20 over and under

A freind of mine bougth a 20ga Ruger I think it is a gold label, anyway it shoots 8 inches low at 20 yards with the bottom barrel but the top barrel is dead on is this normal for over and unders. Some of his other friends say it is but I think if the gun maker cares they should hit
 to gether to my thinking.

They should hit at the same area for the distance they are regulated for, I would call Ruger about this.

It should hit at the same point of impact for regulated distance. I would call Ruger about this. No, it is not normal at least not in my O/U's.

A friend of mine just bought the 20 guage and had the same problem. He sent it back to Ruger and they put a new set of barrels on! He just got it back last week. Took about 4 weeks.

It's not right send it back.

Ideally all doubles should over lap patterns for both barrels at about 40 yards giveor take a bit. In the real world hardly any really do put both barrels to the precise same point. But 8" at 20 yards sounds a bit excessive. Still 20 yards is not a proper range to do the testing. What is it doing at 40 yards which is sort of a defacto standard for all but .410 shotguns?

Now if it was a skeet gun and skeet was the primary use of it then it would be of more importance what it does at 20 than at 40.

If you've ever read the shotgun tests in magazines where they show the actual POI vs. POA on targets with pellet distribution you'd realize that what you're seeing is not so unusual at all. Hardly ever does either barrel hit exactly to POA and seldom are both together.

I talked to another friend of mine who knows a guy who sent a Red Label back 3 times for this same problem and was still not fixed. He does not know if he ever got it resolved.
Sounds like If you by a Red Label you are just taking a chance on a $1200to $1300 dollar shot preforming the way it should.
