I do believe I got 2 more does this afternoon. Nothing at all in November except for a rifle kill & I was begining to think my season might be over. Went out Monday to this spot & climbed into my stand & seen 4 deer right off 50 or so yards out. Its a really thick semiswamp & they didn't see me but I think they knew something walked in. They looked to be trying to get downwind & when they got where I couldn't see them I stood in case they came by & thats when the 7 I didn't see saw me & led their buddies away. This is the spot in the pic in the turkey thread with the invisible deer.
I went back tuesday & set up a pop up blind to see if I might could trick them.
Took a few days but it worked & this afternoon 45 minutes before sunset 3 came in, there were more but I could only locate 3 of them. I wanted to take out momma but she wouldn't turn for me. Kept feeding & looking right at the blind.
She wasn't spooked but just keeping an eye on the funny looking new thing in her living room. After 1/2 hour or so the bigger of the 2 smaller deer gave me a nice shot & I took it. Watched my fletching dissapear behind her shoulder & she ran off. The other 2 jumped & ran around a bit before deciding junior was paranoid. 5 minutes later they were munching again & this time the big girl gave me a shot. I think it was a good hit, sure felt right if you understand but it was dark enuff I couldn't see the arrow hit her thru the mesh. I found one arrow & the start of both blood trails & backed out. Just too thick a place to go crashing around in after dark looking for a deer I'm not sure is dead yet. Had one die on a neighbors front yard in Oct & sure dont wanna spook these off maybe into her yard again.
Wish me luck as I'm going back at first light hoping to find them within 50 yards.
