I took a real nice doe opening morning last friday here in il. muzzleloading only season. It was awesome. My huntsman did what it should.
One question. I was using a 245 gr. powerbelt w/ 80 gr. 777. 25 yrd shot went right through both shouderblades lodged against skin. I retrieved a nicely mushroomed bullet along with the green sobot bottom. Is that supposed to travel w/ the bullet or seperate ?
Thanks again for all the info here.

it separates most of the time but you were so close it probably didn't have time top come off. i shoot a 195 in my CVA and from what i remember they fly off about 30-40 yards.

i've never killed a deer that close with a muzzel loader anyway so it don't matter to me.

congrats on your first deer!!
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while
