My first cannon.
« on: December 18, 2005, 09:33:00 AM »
Hi all,
I built my first cannon a couple of months ago then found this great  forum. I sure wish I found GBO before I started, as fewer mistakes would have been made! I put up a page with some pictures and a video:
http://www.jacsport.com/cannons_and_other_stuff.htm
Barrel is made from scraps lying around the shop, the carriage is made from materials salvaged from a shipping pallet from Brazil, so I'll call it an "exotic wood from South America".  (I'm sure the Brazilians just call it wood.)
Yes, I now know the trunnion clamps should be black, not silver wheel paint, I'll repaint it soon.
I'm half way through a mortar and will post some pics when it's completed.

Hey Grumpy_Old_Guy.,Dont feel to bad I only have 1 bullet by my name too. I am new as well. Good looking little cannon ya got there. Looks to be heavily built I like the width on the trunnions to add to stability.

The Video was great., The target and the slow motion were a bonus treat I have not seen before on a video., a real treat.,Thank you for posting it.

John -

WELCOME to the board!

Sounds like just the thing to cure a touch of cabin fever!  WHen we lived in Iowa I'd wait till the rivers were frozen (to get out of the wind) and we'd go shooting!

You'll fit in very well here!
