 As an old car dealer, I was always aware of the possibility of buying a flood damaged car, but I never applied that to guns.

A word from the wise, if you purchase off the internet, be cautious.  I recently purchased two rifles (at a very good price) that evidently set under water or had been wet and not cleaned for several weeks.  The outside metal parts looked great, but when the wood was removed it was covered with rust, no pitts though.  The wood doesn't show any damage on the outside, but you can tell it has been wet.  I am going to glass bead both and re-blue them.

I feel sure there are a lot (and going to be more) gun out there that went through one of the recent storms.  Just be cautious when you make a purchase. :D  :D  :D

Great heads up, I'm glad someone posted about it. Thanks.
I too have been wondering about firearms that will soon hit the market from water damaged areas.
Sorry to hear about your purchase, though with some TLC you'll get it back to beautiful.

It is always a good idea to check under the stock when buying a used firearm.  I think there are a lot of people who don't bother to strip their guns down and clean and oil them after being out in bad weather.
