Can someone shed some light on the interarms whitworth rifles cal. 375 H&H made in yugoslovia. Is it true that some came with open sights and some did not, were they all made with mauser 98 actions, also is it possible to change the safety from near the tang to one mounted on the bolt.

The standard action won't hold a .375 so you'll need a magnum length. I'm pretty sure CZ makes a reasonable facimile.

thanks for the reply slamfire,
but I already have the rifle and it is a 375 H&H that must mean it is a magnum length action. I guess the question was more for sights and safety's, but everything is helpful.

Some of them came with sights,some didn't. The safeties on mine don't look like they can be altered,but a gun smith may be able to. The one thing I like about mine is that the triggers are adjustable. You can set it just about as low as you want to. Accuracy has been great!

Hello North45,
I own two of these rifles. The safety is on the right rear of the Receiver. It is directly attached to the trigger mechanism, so I would believe that you could only change it by also altering the trigger mechanism. A shooting buddy had one in .375H&H, and it had iron sights, as did/do the rifles I own. We bought these rifles in 1981-1983.

The safety is attached to the trigger and can be removed easily. A Beuler style safety can be used but you`ll have to get an old Mauser[mil] 98 shroud. They are cheap too. The rifles came originally with a nice Express Sight and were pretty well regulated too. Good luck with a GREAT rifle. I have one in 458 and am looking for one in 375. Course I am buliding one too[375]
