where to shoot cannons in Dallas/Ft Worth area?
« on: October 03, 2005, 05:19:59 PM »
I am starting out simple with a small replica cannon of .69 cal.  However I think I would like to upgrade later to a larger cannon.  The question is where would I shoot it?  Is there anyone else out there in the Dallas/Ft Worth area who shoots their cannons locally?  Thanks.

I'm sure that there are places that need urban redeveopment, but for a safe place one needs to find other people that shoot.

The link I've found most successful is where blackpowder is sold.  "Oh yeah, I know someone who's got a cannon!"  And it builds from there.

BrokenKnife,
I'm in the process of buying a coehorn mortar and I'm looking for a place to shoot it locally.  My father is retired and lives up about 30 miles north of Denton in the country.  He has about 100 acres so I'm sure I can shoot my mortar there but don't know about a howitzer or gun.  He has a few neighbors around.  Have you found any other locations?
Adios,
TexasReb

TexasReb -

WELCOME to the board!

When you get to firing your mortar take pictures !

I still have a picture of when I fired my first one on July 4th 1975 - the 200th anniversary of the first shot heard round the world - and it was 20 miles down the road from the bridge between Lexingon and Concord.

AND we want to share the excitement!
