Today I went to Gander Mountain in N Tonawanda. I planned on getting perhaps a longer range NEF than my H&R .44 mag.
   Saw it at such a price that I HAD to get it...a new model 7600 Remington allweather (synthetic/ stainless) pump in .308.
  I didn't necessarily want a repeater but this was a great buy....and I like the .308 since my M-14 days..
  Although I've owned many rifles, mostly new...except for a used .22 that I gave to my brother, this is my only Remington..

  Any experience with Remington centerfires, especially pumps ? Please share with me...
  What kind of accuracy should I expect ?

ironglow, I had a Remington 7600 Carbine in 30-06 that would shoot 1.5 inch groups with factory Remington Core-Lokt ammo. The 7600's usually shoot pretty good, enjoy!  :D

I had a Remington 760 30-06  years ago. Nice gun, and accurate. My plan for the fall is to invest in a 308 Win barrel for my Encore.

  They had four identical new rifles in stock..only exception was that 2 were .308 and 2 were 30/06.
   Now here is the kicker...three were tagged $499 and one was tagged $419...guess which one I insisted upon...LOL

Oh boy, Ironglow...Gander is in Tonawanda not North Tonawanda...Don't go confusing us Niagara County residents with our Erie County neighbors to the South... :lol:

BTW, I may just send my H&R SB2 rifle receiver in for a new barrel...I was thinking about a 25-06, 7mm-08 or 270...Not sure if I can get it done in time for this season or not...

Whitetailer, there website says "During periods of high demand, please allow six to eight weeks for delivery of your additional barrels or accessories."
You can probably just make it if you send it in now.  :D

Problem is that I haven't received the discount flyer in the mail yet...Supposedly it can save you $20 on your accessory barrel...That $20 would come in handy now especially with the price of gas.  I'm patient and I really do not need the rifle for this season but it would be nice.

     There were lots of .243s, I originally went there with possibly a .243 in mind. There were none in that particular model that I bought, but there are many bolt actions and singles. As I recall, the Savage bolts were about $365 and they have a reputation for accuracy. My Savage 11G in .223 is truly accurate.
   Browning bolts were just under and just over $700, while there was a plain jane" Stevens for just under $300 with gray fiber stock...and the Styevens should shoot like a Savage.

Yup...That is for the entire rifle...They advertised that discount on their website too...Just looking for the barrel discount.  I e-mailed H&R again and again they said they would mail one out today...We'll see.

Whitetailer - The barrel costs $97 plus tax and shipping and you have to send your receiver to NEF . WallyWorld sells the complete rifle for $200.
The Gander Mt in your area ,I believe , is in Tonawanda  :)   and will probablysell it to you for the same price . The GM in Henrietta sold me one for $187 which was $5 more than their cost ( according to the sales mgr ) . $18 for a box of corelocks .

I will be doing most of my gun hunting with a revolver, but I will take out my Remington 7400 in .35 Whelen a couple of times.  I will shoot the 200 grain corelokt ammo, I would rather shoot this then my 12 gauge.  I've got a doe permit for an area in Herkimer County, where I can now use my rifle.  Giddy UP!
