Can you tell me somthing about this rifle

I just acquired A Sears and roebuck model 100 Ted williams 30-30 lever action,Serial# 273.582140.The gun looks like a Winchester 1894 top eject,but doesnt say Winchester on it anywhere.Can you tell me some history and maybe date it.I need to order some parts for it, will standard 94 parts work.Thanks.

Your rifle was made by Winchester and marketed under the Ted Williams brand name.  It's parts are identical and interchangeable with those of the post 1964 Winchester 1894. I've owned two, and they are fully the equal of the Winchester marked items.  Replacing screws, a carrier, and cartridge stops were no problem...they just dropped right in.

If the receiver finish is hard and shiney and appears to be chromium plated but a black finish (as revealed by the edges and high spots wearing bright), it's black chrome.  Winchester used this finish on the M94 in the middle-to-late 1960s because the sintered steel receivers would not take a uniform bluing.  After this short period, Winchester went to iron plating the receivers, and then conventionally bluing them.
