Anyone go to the Syracuse gun show?
« on: April 16, 2005, 02:38:56 PM »
My two friends and I went today (Saturday 4/16). This was the first time I've gone sense '95. There was some nice stuff there. There was also "A LOT" of over priced junk. One of my friends might want to go back tomorrow, maybe I'll go with him! We only live about 15 minutes from it! Oh well, let us know if you went and what you bought!

Hey Hunter I went today with my fahter in law and my nephew. We met a friend there from Cicero and we had a good time. The place was well filled with people for sure. I bought a new gun rest to shoot with from the booth in the corner by the ice cream stand and some small stuff from Tony in the wheel chair who is a friend of the buddy I met there. My nephew bought some ox-yoke patches for his muzzleloader for a dollar a pack and he bought a hat.  That was about all we bought but had a good time for sure.  I live about 2 hours away, and I doubt I will return tomorrow.

Went on Saturday. First time I've attended the Syracuse show. Bought a Marlin .17HMR rifle. I didn't feel that there were very many good deals to be had pricewise. I don't think I'll bother traveling that distance again to attend this show. IMO, there was far too much non-gun merchandise (jewelry, wood carvings, etc.). I go to gun shows to see guns, not flea market items. My 2 cents. You may feel differently.

I went on Saturday. Stocked up on reloading supplies, bought a brick of .22lr, and some #4 buckshot.

I was tempted by two different guns. Saw an sks in nice shape for $150 (Shoulda bought it), and a nice Sig Trailside .22lr pistol with wood laminate grips that I really, really wanted. If it only had a 6" barrel instead of the 4", it would have been mine.

Agree that there was a lot of junk, and most everything there was overpriced.

I think I got that Yugo...it is nice....wish I would've bought when they were cheap. I agree that all the stuff there was way out of line as far as price goes... I live 20 mins or so from the fairgrounds and try to make at least 1 show a year, but if the trend towards cranking up the prices continues, I will be skipping. I live on a narrowly defined budget(self-defined), and I can't justify spending for some of the prices that the vendors are asking...O well, there's always Dick's, Bass Pro, and Walmart willing to take some of my hard earned...
