Yeah - Sold a mohawk brown nylon 66 some years ago for $35.

Could have bought one this weekend at a gun show for $350!

Savage .250,

As i`m a Savage 99 fan (pre-mil) i`m constantly on the prowl for same.  Hard to find, cost has gone up , not a collector but know one when i see one.

I hear what you say.  The last few really nice 99's I have seen were in little, out of the way pawn shops.  It was in one of these that I found my .22 Hi Power.  Lawdog

Lawdog: Don`t know what you paid for your "Hi-Power" but i saw a nice .22 HP T/D at the Deland Gun Show (FL) guy was asking $800.
Nice to see another Savage 99 man coming out of the closet. LOL.

I "GAVE"  a 788 lefty to my oldest grandson, after he fullfiled  my requirements of getting clean and straight, and graduating from high shool. He lived with us at the time. When we took him to get his juvie record expunged, he went home to his abusive Mother and slipped back into drinkin' and druggin'. I don't much miss the rifle, it was a bit too heavy for me, but I should have know he'd backslide.

I like the Savage 99 but only the ones with rotary magazines.  Got them in .22 HP, .243 Win., .250 Savage, .284 Win., .300 Savage and .308 Win.  I saw a DL model in .250 Savage go for $985 at an auction number of years ago.  That was when I pretty much quit hunting with mine.  Worth more as a collector's rifle.  And yeah I cruse over to 24 Hour Campfire(and other forums) every so often but I don't care for all the personal attacks, character assassinations and name calling just because someone disagrees with the so-called majority on an issue.  I prefer Graybeards.  Lawdog

1-Ruger mini-14
2-Ruger M77 338 win.mag.
3-Browning 10 ga. pump
4-Marlin1895ss 45/70        WOW what an A##

There were a few more but those are the ones i miss My advise to those of you who have a rifle in the closet that doesn't get much use and maybe some bills need to get paid leave it in the closet  the bills will get paid but the rifles wont come back.
Some good news though in this year alone i have two new classics in my collection. In the winter i picked up a pre 64 winchester 94 in 30/30 and last week i picked up a savage 99 in 308 winchester thats from 1967 i believe. (makes me feel a little better) Later Tanoose

Thanks to an ex wife walking out and leaving me with my two year old daughter and all the bills, I had to pawn a Thompson semi auto 45 with the drum, etc., a Browning A-bolt in 30/06 that I saved for forever and had for about three months, and more than a couple handguns. Haven't heard from the bitch since, but I sure wish I had those guns back.

 Ye I sure did a few months ago I had a Custom Mauser  built in 6.5 swede on a turk 98 action. Son got injured and Dad (he's 26) need to help him out and away went my new rifle. I kicked myself everytime I thought about that rifle. Well i must be living right I went to the same Shop and my rifle was on the rack with a Vari XII 3-9X40 on top. I have paid for this rifle twice now and now it's in my safe to stay. Sometime things work out in ways you do not expect and in this case I am glad they did!!!

                                                    Jess  :D

They want $ 375.00 sooo I getting the rifle free and buying the scope!
