Could someone tell me how Graf's blackpowder compares to Swiss or Goex in 45-70 cartridges?

I've used swiss, goex and pyro in BPC and all three of them plus graf ff and fff in ml guns and my conclusion is that it comes the closest to goex but is just a tad hotter and a tad cleaner.  I like the Grafs and use a lot of it but just haven't gotten any into a brass case yet :-)   The Swiss seems much hotter than any of the others.  Once again, no chrony data on swiss and bpc but in ml velocity comparisons it waaay outruns the goex and pyro in both 1 1/2f and 2f

Thanks LC. They quit selling blackpowder where I was getting my Swiss. Ordered some from Graf & Sons, got some Swiss and thought I'd give their Graf powder a try too. So I also ordered 2lbs. of ffg and 1lb. of fg, figured if I didn't like it in the cartridges I'd burn it up in my muzzleloader and revolver. If it burns hotter and cleaner than Goex I'll like it.

I've used both, and for me I'll stick with Swiss in the 45/70 because Swiss is a little hotter and more consistant from batch to batch.  I haven't done any long term test with Graf's, but I use it in every thing else except 38 long colt because the small case I want all the power I can get.

Graf's is made by Shootzen(Spelling?) and is good stuff.

Have some loaded up, just haven't been able to get out and run any tests. Typo error on the earlier post, it was 3f instead of 2f. Hope she does alright. How's the fouling Will?

Got out today and tried out the Graf. Was shooting from the sitting position off of sticks at 100 yards. The first 5 shot group was using 1f Graf...won't be using it anymore. Well, it would take alot more playing with loads anyway. But this target was shot with 62grs., wax paper, crisco, 535gr. Postell with my lube. Wasn't impressed at all.

This second target was shot from same position, same range with sticks using 3f Graf. It was 62grs., wax paper, crisco and 535gr. Postell with my lube. At half the price of Swiss, I think I can live with it.

This last target was shot using my Swiss 2f powder. Load was same as others above. Would've been a good group if that flyer hadn't got me. Been awhile since I've used 2f Swiss in my cartridges, prefer 3f.

How was the fouling?  In my 38's the swiss burns a lot cleaner, with the 45-70 I was using Goex and it left a harder heavyier fouling than the swiss.

Nice groups by the way, have you tried the swiss/graf at longer ranges?

I am posibly going to get the chance to go shoot at steel targets at a 1000 yard range and am thinking of loading with 3f Graf's to see how it does, may load a few with 1.5 Swiss to see what happens.

Haven't been out to try the Graf at longer ranges. Been too busy playing with the muzzleloader with Graf. I've shot the Swiss out to 750 yds., I do better with it up to 500. Needing to order some more powder...may throw in a pound of the 1 1/2 Swiss on the next one.

Well I can say that for me Graf's fouls almost as bad as Goex.  I wanted to fire size some new brass and instead of loading Swiss I tried the Graf's.  Had to swab the bore every 20 shots or so, can usual go longer with Swiss.  Also the fouling seemed harder than what Swiss leaves behind.  Don't know about accuracy, was plinking a five gallon bucket at about 100 yards, seemed accurate enough.
