will a deer go with a lungshot?I've got the opportunity to shoot urban deer on a 20 acre woodlot-but wouldn't want to deal with a deer going over 50 yards-nothing worse than trying to track down a deer that ran into  someone's yard or made in onto a road.

Shouldnt go 50 yards unless its already spooked. I'v made bad shots like single lung & liver hits that the deer didnt go further than that before bedding down so long as they dont know what happened. If they see you & then get hit its another story. I bowhunt alot of urban deer, none of my spots are even close to the size you mention. Mine average 1.5 acres, some larger & some smaller. So far I havent had alot of issues but did have to knock on doors once to trail a deer that I spooked out of its first bed. IMO the biggest thing is just let them be for at least an hour unless you watch it die. If you know you made a bad hit let it be for as long as possible, it can be hard to do but it can be the difference between finding your deer 50 yards away & chasing it across the country. My wife teaches evenings from 6 to 11 so its become easy for me to let them be for a few hours & go back after she returns.

I'v had them that werent aware of my presence that got hit & ran 15 or 20 yards then stop & look at the spot they were just in as if asking "What was that" then just lay down & die. I dont think getting stuck with a broadhead hurts real bad & unless they saw you or knew somehow that you were there they just kinda blow it off.

Plan your hunt & place your stands so that your not shooting near the borders or where you know which way they will tend to run. In my experience they tend to go back the way they came if they know somethings up but will head for the nearest thick cover if unaware of what just happened. I think that unless pushed they will tend to avoid open places like yards & such, least thats been my experience.

All depends I have had heart shot deer run a 100 yards and drop and have had others drop right there or in a few yards. Lung shots they normally do not go over a 100 yards but they can go farther some times also. The is no given here they all react different. jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
