That seems really short.  Howas have 22" barrels on standard cartridges and 24" for magnums.  Seems really odd.  Is is NIB?

fuzzy,

Any barrel under 24 inches for the .25-06 does not let you get the full benefit of this fine cartridge.  A barrel 19.5 inches is not just short it is ridicules.  Send it back to Howa or get a refund and get a rifle with the proper length barrel.  Lawdog

Hold the phone everyone, where did you measure the barrel from, did you measure from the crown back past where the receiver starts.  Barrels lengths is measure from the crown to the chamber, not at the beginning of the receiver.  Just checking to see if you measured it right.

Do me a favor and take your tape and measure 22" from the crown and see where it stops and let us know.

Ok guy`s from crown back to reciver is 21.25"  from crown back 22" would be the back of chamber But that still seams short to me. Gun was spoze to be NIB got it at a gun show here in ohio no box came with it.that seam`s odd to me beside that gun is very nice scoped it sited it in ,but haven`t had change to put it on a bench at 100' yet to c what it can do

fuzzy, I have had several Howa 1500's and like them all.  If you don't want this 25-06 let me know, I live in Ohio also.

Fuzzy: I have a Mod 1500 in 300 win mag, it's a tack driver clover leaf groups at 100 yrds.

Action = silky smooth...trigger needed work though a lot of creep, make sure you break that barrel in right a clean it properly, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm a weatherby rifle fan, i bought this rifle at a pawnshop for $200 (synthehic stock)...i'm impressed great rifle for the price

Good luck and good hunting  :D
