The wife and I went to the Georgia mtns. for a long weekend celebrating our 26th wedding aniv. While there I went the oldest gold strike in the U.S. Dalanaga, Ga.
I paned out a little sand and found a small nuget in a pile a sand I bought there. I also brought a pan home for my son along with a sack of sand. I paid $26 for a sack that is about the size of two ten pound bags of flour. I don't know if I got stuck or not. If Jr. finds something it will be worth it. The crude experience was worth the fun and education it provided.
Does anyone know of other places in Ga. to pan for gold?
