Hello,

I'm new to this forum and I'm really looking forward to learning more about prospecting for gold.  I'm in northern Colorado and love getting out in the mountains every chance I get.  Hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and recently panning, just anything to get in the hills.
A question I have is last summer I was trying my hand at panning in a little stream that we frequently camp by.  I had an individual come up and say I was wasting my time panning in small stream and creeks and that your chances for gold or better in larger rivers.
What's your thoughts on this?

Panning small streams is not a waste.  When you think of all the gold that has never been exposed, you just never know when and where you will find it.  I would say that as long as your in an area known for gold, pan every stream you can.

They did not get it all!

Daveinthebush,
Thanks for your thoughts.  I don't know if there was ever any gold found in this particular stream but I figure there's only one way to find out.

Plus it's relaxing to follow the stream up and see what's around the next bend and maybe find "the" spot.
