243 Ackley conversion

I'm seriously thinking about converting a standard 243 to the 243 Ackley version. My question is about fireforminmg the brass. I know this has probably been covered many times, but I'm new to fireforming. So, I want to get a good understanding of what's envolved before I start. I've heard there are two fireforming methods... one that uses a bullet and one that doesn't. Which one do you believe is best and why ? One last question in case it's not covered ... since the one without the bullet apparently throws a lot of residue down the barrel, how many shots can one fire before cleaning the barrel ? Making .243AI isn't too tough - fire factory .243 Win ammo in it, and .243 AI brass comes out. This is assuming the chamber is properly done and the factory round is a crush fit touching at the neck/shoulder junction. The barrel must be set back a turn to do this - make sure your 'smith doesn't just run a AI reamer into a standard chamber or the headspace will be excessive.
