Hey, Here is another barrel I made. It's 1/4 scale with a 3/4 inch bore. Machined from 660 Bronze. Later, Powder Keg

Bootiful!!!!

I couldn't have one of those.  My training as a Marine would compel me to break out the brasso and duraglint twice a day!

That's great work.

I have a question, how did you affix the trunnions?

Just kidding:O) I set the barrel in my dividing head on my mill and used a 1" end mill and milled a pocket .0625" deep. I then measured the pocket and made the trunnions the exact same size as the pocket, making a press fit.  The trunnions had a recessed counter bore in the end and when I pressed them ttogatherI filled this recess with some of that 2 part metal epoxy that you kneed ttogather The recess is so when the trunnions are pressed togather all of the epoxy isn't squished out. Does this make sense? You need to make sure the metal is clean so the epoxy will stick good.

Great work!

Any chance of getting some drawings of that barrel?

What scale drawing do you want?  Can you read .dwg files or do you need paper?

I'd like a set in full scale.  I have AC 2000 and am fluent in both 2d and 3d.

Impressive work.

I'd like a full scale and a 1/4 scale if you have them.  If I build one it would most likely be 1/4 scale but a full size set would be nice to have for reference.  I have AutoCAD 2002.

For those who don't have AutoCAD there is a free utility at http://www.infograph.com/products/dwgviewer/ that you can use to open and print .dwg files.  It is a large download around 8.7 MB.  It is not too bad, Volo View is much better but it is no longer available at the AutoDesk website.

Since you both have a CAD program that can manipulate the file, I'll be happy to send the full size plans (barrel only.)  I have one restriction--please do not give other people copies of the file.  You can give them paper prints but if they want the file, send them to me.

I need targets for the emails.  PM me.

As the old saying goes, measure twice, cut once.  Be sure to review the dimensions on the drawing for reasonableness.  Some are text and don't automatically change when scaled.  I think they are all OK but it's your project that won't be right if there is a mistake.

Guys,

If it helps, I found a web site where you can download Volo View as freeware. It's 15MB so if you're on a 56k hookup, plan on it taking a while.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd like a set of the plans myself.

Hello All, Here is the plans I used for my 1/4 scale howitzer. Sorry about the delay. My day job gets in the way of things.
