Stock for a Savage 110 Tactical?
« on: February 01, 2005, 01:39:58 PM »
I need an after market stock for a 110. I currently have it in a Choate varment stock and it is a pretty nice stock for bench target shooting, but  I hate the thing out on the prairie dog towns. Adjusting the screw all the time is a pain in the butt. I would rather use a rear bag. Any suggestions? I would love a nice laminated stock but a composite would be fine also. I'm looking for some thing good and solid that wont twist as I'll be using it with a bi-pod. The factory stock it came in was real crap. No rigidity at all. Thanks in advance for any sugestions.   KN

Bell and Carlson

I just purchased Bell and Carlson stocks for my 300 RUM 116 stainless steel and one for my 110FP in 25-06. I've installed the stock on the 300 RUM and it fit right in. It is much stiffer than the factory stock and the barrel floats. It also has the Pachmyr recoil pad. I haven't tried installing the stock on the 110 FP. I may have to do a little bit of inletting for the accutrigger but I don't know yet. They aren't too expensive and they are quite an improvement over the factory stocks.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

Savage 110 FP Stock Installation
« Reply #3 on: February 03, 2005, 04:11:40 AM »
I installed the Bell and Carlson stock on my  Savage 110FP in 25-06. The action fit right in with just a little bit of grinding on the forestock to fully free float the barrel. Apparently some of the older stocks require some additional work to get the accutrigger to properly fit but the newer ones (mine) are cut for the accutrigger. This stock is significantly stiffer than the factory stock and has the Pachmyr recoil pad.

Go to this site http://www.lockstock.com/.  Click on gun stocks.  At the bottom of the list is Stockade Stocks.  These are the same stocks that the Savage shooters site sells for quite a bit more.  They are made by a company in Nebraska called Stockade Guns.  This is also the stock that Brownell's sell as "their" stock.  Stockade Guns is run by a guy by the name of Kevin Rayhill, great guy to talk to.  His number is 308-432-5114.  He makes a great line of stocks.  I am planning on ordering one of his benchrest stocks.  Check around on these sites and you will find custom rifles built on his stocks.  He also has a "long range benchrest" stock that looks very interesting too.  I am going to order the unfinished out of the mould stock and do my own finishing and painting.  You can order directly from Stockade but they are no cheaper than from LockStock.

I think the Stockade Guns run by Kevin Rayhill is a Savage specialist.  Apparently builds lots of special order guns and of course has the stock making shop also.  If you have a problem, he is a real nice guy to talk to.
