The local police department asked me to mill a 1911 slide (skeletonized) to be used in training classes. Anyone got an old 1911 slide hanging around that would serve this purpose? It does not need to be pretty as they will be painting it blue.

I don't have a slide for you, but just a question; What is the local police dep't. doing learning about this century-old, obsolete gun? (tongue-in-cheek)

Roy: if you can't find one easily enough, there are two suggestions I can make: first is that the Shotgun News advertises different 1911 slides and you can buy one for less than $100 if you cannot find someone to give you one. The second suggestion is that if the Police Department wants you to mill one for training purposes, disassemble a 1911 the Department has picked up, before it gets destroyed or demilled, and use that part. Just my 2 cents worth. Mikey.
