Changing barrels?
« on: December 11, 2004, 11:20:57 AM »
Hey guys I got both of my barrels on my encore set up with scopes and sighted in.

On the 270 barrel I mounted a warne base and warne rings with the Leupold VX  II3X9X40. I have had real good luck shooting factory ammo and I did my final sight in with 130 gr federal premium balistic tips last week. I left it at 2" high at 100 yards.

I mounted the warne base and warne quick detachible on the 209x50 barrel with a Leupold Vari X III  3.5X10X50. I was real fortunate the first load I tried, 100 gr of 777 ffg and the 250 shockwave gave me consistant 1" groups at 100 yards. My final sightin with this load was 3" high at 100 yards.

My big question is? When Im exchanging barrels how much POI change can I expect? Can I expect it not to be to great? Or will I just have to experiment?

What are your experiences with POI change when changing barrels? Is my hope there would be no POI change realistic or just wishful thing?

Any information you more experienced encore shooter could share would be appreciated.

I haven't noticed any change of impact when switching barrels out.  All of my barrels will stay on zero after swaping them out.

None, mine always hit the same when I took them off.  I take them off to clean them and that's the same as switching them out.

Thats great to hear.  The interchangability of the barrels is one of the my main reasons for getting the encore.  However, if I had to resight copletly from scratch everytime I changed barrels it would be too much trouble.

I wouldnt mind just a slight adjustment if needed because I know I would have to shoot the gun after changing the barrel so I can have confidence in takeing a shot when it presents itself.
