Just give it some General maintenance and it will be all right ... Had mine since "87 and its suffered thru a good many NY winter hunts with no problems...Bore is as bright and shiny as the day I bought it...Laminated stock is as good as new...And I'm NOT a fair weather hunter, best deer huntin' is found in the heavoest of rain or snow....MTNMAN

If you want to add a little extra protection to that laminate stock just put some wax on it before heading out...I wax the laminate handle on my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter regularly and so far no problems...I don't worry too much about my shotgun stocks as none of them are laminate.

It is some type of gun stock wax...I don't remember the name and I am at work right now.  Check out some sporting goods stores and you should find what you are looking for.  You may be able to use other waxes though too.

For the stocks I use Paste Finishing Wax by Minwax. This is the same wax that is used on hardwood floors.  You rub a small quantity all over the wood. Then rub it in and off with an old clean sock. THEN you have to rub vigorously (buff)  all of this until it shines. If you put a little too much on, it will feel tacky, buff it some more. Then it will take a day to actually dry. You can use a little of this on the bbl and action or use regular car wax for the metal.  Then, if you ARE out in bad weather,  all you need to do is dump the water out of the action  , and be sure it is cleaned and oiled.
This worked great for me for a Stevens 9478 single shot 12ga cut down for slugs last year, hunting in 2 days of DOWNPOUR for deer.

if the water is wiped off, not laying on the wood for long periods of time, could it actually make it through the factory finish? what would it do to the laminate stock? would it make the wood come apart or anything, or am i being paranoid and you don't really have to worry about this?

I think you might be a little to worried about it. keep it clean and dry it out good what it really gets soaked and you should be fine. Even if it falls apart it is easily replacable.
