An old hardware store went bankrupt in my town. Their last window display was a green canvas three sided tripod type wind break ice fishing shelter. That thing sat in the window for 15 years. My barbers shop is right across from that storefront, so for 15 years, every few weeks I'd spend some time staring at that shelter.
My plan: Take four 10 foot long douglas fir 2X2's, a cross shaped steel bracket for the peak, some green canvas, and a few miscelaneous pieces of 2X2 and hardware. Make a 6 foot tall, 4 sided shelter that folds open sort of like an umbrella. The wind braces could attach inside with carriage bolts and wing nuts. I could make a snap down flap for a door, mabey even install a stove jacket for a propane stove (set on a plank so it doesn't melt in)
My other plan is to build a wooden box to sit on a sled or toboggan that I can use for a bench when out fishing. I could park my sled, set up my shelter, drill some holes and have at it.
