Got my first Semi-Auto Rifle a few days ago thru a trade and with a bit of skepticism went to the range with it today. I have to say I was really impressed with it. It is a Safari Grade BAR in 270 and it handles really nice. I will be taking it with me for elk next week. I have always had Bolt action rifles and this rifle was every bit as accurate as most of them have been. If the action works without any problems I may be a new convert. Why didn't somebody tell me about these rifles before?

Yea I,ve got a .308 lightweight with a 20 " barrel. It shoots moa most of the time. It's twice as accurate as my buddy's 7400 30-06 with a 22' barrel.

Mind reporting how its accuracy measures up? I've been thinking about a BAR in 270 for target shooting.

How did you do on your Elk Hunt? Love to hear how your BAR 270 performed. What ammo did you use?

I picked up a BAR Safari in 30-06 this past spring and have been working up loads for it over the summer. It's as accurate, if not more so, than any bolt action I've ever owned or shot. It will shoot sub MOA (avg 3/4") at 100 Yds with 165Grn Nosler Partitions, 180Grn Sierra GameKings, and 180Grn Nosler Ballistic Tips and that's all I've tried in it so far. Took a nice 8PT with it last weekend using the 165 Partitions.
