Another Remington 700 LSS Mountain Rifle Question.
« on: November 17, 2004, 01:25:45 PM »
I currently have a Remington Model 7 in .308 that I want to trade in for a Remington LSS Mountain Rifle in 7mm-08.  The Model 7 has too fat of a wrist and the gun just doesn't seem to fit me properly.

I'm going to use the Mountain Rifle as a woods gun and I was thinking of getting either the Burris Signature Select 1.5x6 or the Weaver Grand Slam in 1.5x5.  Which of the two scopes do you think would be a better choice?  Also, I would rather stay away from a 2x7 scope for all of you out there who think that would be a better choice.  Field of view is very important to me and a 2x7 just doesn't give you the field of view that a 1.5 does.

Two weeks ago I made the exact same trade with the same rifles and calibers.  The mountain rifle makes a very nice woods gun as it points easily and i can hold it more steady offhand than the model 7.  i went with the 2-7 vx-II lupie and i love it. i have not shot the combo yet, but if i leave it on 2 power and throw it to my shoulder it just feels right.  good decision to make the trade.
