Savage .223
« on: November 22, 2004, 11:15:49 AM »
Was looking at the Savage Accu Trigger in .223 for a youth and me and was real impressed.  The twist was what I wanted and the Remington wasn't .   Like the thumb safety and was wondering if I could put one of my Bushnell Trophy airgun scopes on it without upsetting anything????  Tanks.

Sure, why not?

Not sure either way about the scope. Air gun scopes are designed more for forward recoil as I understand, but the 223 is mild and the rearward recoil it produces may not be an issue.

I have a Simmons mounted on mine and with handloads I get some excellent groups. The Accutrigger makes the rifle a real pleasure to shoot with.

Safe shooting.

If your air gun scope is rated for centerfire rifles then go for it.  If not, check the the mfg first, then don't as you will likely ruin a perfectly good scope and your point of impact will like change unexpectedly and drive you nuts.

I have 2 savage rifles.  Both 12bvss, one in .308 and one in .223.  I topped both with a bushnell 3200 10X Mildot.  Got them from Natchez for around $140.00 and they perform very well.

If you reload drop me a note and I can give you info on what I load for mine and it will hold sub MOA if I do my part.  If you don't consider it as that is the best way to make these rifles perform and get the most bang for the buck.

Enjoy the rifle...
