If your air gun scope is rated for centerfire rifles then go for it. If not, check the the mfg first, then don't as you will likely ruin a perfectly good scope and your point of impact will like change unexpectedly and drive you nuts.
I have 2 savage rifles. Both 12bvss, one in .308 and one in .223. I topped both with a bushnell 3200 10X Mildot. Got them from Natchez for around $140.00 and they perform very well.
If you reload drop me a note and I can give you info on what I load for mine and it will hold sub MOA if I do my part. If you don't consider it as that is the best way to make these rifles perform and get the most bang for the buck. :grin:
