Here's a question:  When a vendor sells, say, a 1" roundball mould, is the mould cut to allow for windage?

You will have to ask the vendor...my money says they probably won't know.

Some brands will tell you what diameter the product will be when cast with a specific alloy.  Most won't because it generally doesn't matter for non-ballistic applications.

But isn't this, by definition, a ballistic application?  I'm new to this, so i'm a wee bit confused.

Some manufacturers make the 1" round ball moulds  for cannons.

Others make moulds of 1" round balls for fishing sinkers.

My 1 3/4" bore Coehorn mortar works just fine with a 1 pound fishing sinker.

OK Evil Dog.  Now where in the world do you find these large fishing sinker moulds?????  I tried Cabelas when I last visited their store, since they have ALMOST everything for the fishing sport and they gave me a questionable look like I was some kind of a nut-case, especially when they asked me why I wanted such a large sinker and I of course, told them the truth, for the projectile in shooting my cannon and/or mortar.... Cabelas did have moulds but only for some very small sinkers. Thanks.  Blaster (Bob in CO)
