Any tips on breaking in a new leather shooting sling? Its the military style sling.
All I know about leather is from neetsfoot oiling my baseball glovce about 30 years ago. I am hoping for some advancements since then :)

I've always soaked mine with Neetsfoot oil, then hung them up with something fairly heavy attached to the end (around 25 lbs).  That prestretches them, and softens them up.

Wear it five hunting trips, clean it, wear it for five more hunting trips, clean it!
If it feels good stop right there, if not, wear five more hunting trips and clean one last time. This should do it!!!

I sit and watch TV and fold the new leather over onto itself and roll it between my palms or fingers....softens it really nicely..I'm talking good leather here not the cheap stuff...the cheap crap will break down and split doing this.... Oil to water repel...
