45-70 loads for ENCORE
« on: October 23, 2004, 02:03:08 PM »
Given the chamber pressures of some of the Encore chamberings, Will the Encore handle 45-70 loads listed for the Ruger No. One? What are the heavies loads anyone uses in thier Encores. Thanks.
shot placement is everything.

Thanke for the reply. I quess I don't really need to load the old girl that strong. Nosler calls thier strong rifle load with the 300 grain partition at 35000 lbs chamber pressure. Thats a healthy load but far below the Ruger Load of about 50000 lbs. Many of the Encore chamberings exceed 50000 lbs. The Marlin load is plenty of whop. I shot clear through a 500 lb + Bear and he went down so fast that he stirred up a cloud of dust and leaves. 350 grain Hornady round nose @ 1900 fps. I need to work up a good load for the Encore as well as the new G2 carbine in 45-70. That one I will just load to trapdoor levels. Thanks again.

I was told to the same thing, to stick to the Marlin loads and stay away from the Ruger #1 loads. The Marlin load are plenty good.  :D
