Those that have handled both, which do you like better in a carbine. DO NOT take into account performance, just want to know which handles better. I think I like the Contender/G2 setup better.

Hi Moe, While I have an Encore, I'd agree that the G 2 is more compact although not significantly lighter than the other. That G 2 in a 375 JDH looks like a winner if you reload.

I had an Encore, but now have a G2. I think they are both comfortable, but the light weight and size of the G2 makes it my preference for carrying.

I really like the G2 carbine. It is lighter and the new stock is high enough to line up with a scope very well and the forearm is long enough to be able to grip much better than the old carbine forearm.

Thanks for the reply's. Does anyone know if anyone makes a rubber Pistol grip and or a synthetic butt stock?

I don`t have a G-2, but I do have acouple of Encores and acoupe of older Contender. I shoot both and like both. My favorite summer time carry gun is a .17 AH on a Contender frame. I just bought a new .204 Ruger for an Encore frame, went with the Encore barrel because it`s longer. What it boils down to is, the contender is alittle liter, but the Encore will handle bigger cals. and is alittle easier to hold off hand do to the extra weight. If you want bigger cal. you need an Encore. If not eather will work fine.
