Fixed my own Taurus.....
« on: October 21, 2004, 09:48:12 AM »
One thing I noticed about by old Taurus model 80 .38 is that after about 50, maybe 70 rounds it started to want to lock-up. I checked everything. Finally, I now know why I never found this until now. I had to check the gun dirty. I found that the top of the forcing cone was touching the front of the cylinder in spots as the cylinder rotated. As the gun would be fouling it would finally seize up after so many rounds. Well I used my wife's Revlon nail file and shaved off a little of the forcing cone and a tad bit of the front of the cylinder. It appears that when the forcing cone was cut it was cut uneven, since only the top of it touched the cylinder. Well, the gun's action is very smooth and after shooting it yesterday appears to be more accurate. Go Figure.
