Junk Product Warning - BEWARE OF B-Square
« on: September 30, 2004, 07:54:47 AM »
Since my new Weatherby Vanguard in .257 Whby. Magnum is intended as my truly long range rifle I wanted to be 100% certain I had the scope aligned perfectly.

To this end I bought a B-Square Crosshair Square, product number T1001.

THIS THING IS A POS. JUNK to be nice but blunt.

It fits fairly well in the back of receiver and lays on the flats there if you hold it in place. So squaring it with action shouldn't be that much trouble. But it is nearly impossible to see the line on it and the crosshairs in relation to each other to do a proper alignment. Still I worked with it a long time and finally felt confident that it as as square with the world as possible and that both the mark on it and the crosshairs lined up. Carefully tightened all down and rechecked. Yup still look in alignment. This took dang near 45 minutes to do what I normally do in less than five minutes.

So I took it to an area where I could plumb the rifle perfectly and checked crosshairs against a known perpendicular line. Back to the drawing board. Cross hairs were tilted.

On the package it clearly says:

YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED.

Yeah right what a lie. I called and told them of the problem. Asked for my money back. Nope that's not an option. Will replace it. Now what good will it do to replace one piece of crap with another same piece of crap? They will give me a credit to buy something else directly from them. Yeah fat chance of that happening again.

So beware of B-Square. Seems their Guarantee isn't worth the cost of the ink to print it. And this is NOT the first of their products I've reviewed and found sadly lacking in quality. But I believe it will be the last as I don't think I'll be buying anymore. Would rather spend my money on quality merchandise and with folks who actually honor their warranty.

So while this gets me not one red cent of the money I spent back I sincerely hope it costs B-Square a great many dollars in lost sales for their lack of Customer Service and refusal to honor a warranty.

When folks do good I praise them. When they do bad I tell you that too. B-Square did BAD.

I've had bad luck with them too.  I had a set of scope rings from them that I put on a .22LR.  The screws wouldn't tighten up properly unless I kept track of which screw went into each hole (they're weren't interchangable at all).  Even then they just didn't slide in very easily.  I've had rings from Tasco, Simmons, Weaver, Warnes, Millet, and Burris.  All of them, even the other cheapo brands such as Simmons, worked better than the B-Squares.

Bought a side mount base from them for my Mossburg shotgun...WHAT A JOKE...Because its so thin it made my scope blow all to hell...Never in my life had a scope blow like this one did so I had a couple of optic's experts take a looksie...Told me it was from the base...It was so thin that it actually did like a tuneing fork and created some sort of resonant vibration or some mumbo jumbo like that...Needless to say I picked up a regular weaver style base since my reciever is drilled and tapped...Just makes it a little bit more of a pain in the ass to switch back for rabbit season...Simmons did replace the scope at no charge yet B-stupid didnt even come close to honoring thier satisfaction warranty either...How do company's like that stay in buiss. ????
You want a divorce if I go hunting today??? Well sorry ta see ya go...Was nice knowin ya..Dont let tha door hit ya where tha good lord split ya :D

Though most everyone knew that you couldn't trust B-Square.  I got my fill trying to use their rings and mounts on air rifles.  JUNK is putting it mildly.  Lawdog

Personally, I like just plain aligning the crosshairs with the butt of my gun.  Using that method, and making sure they are as closely aligned as possible, the only reason there would be cant is you are holding the gun wrong!!! :)  I also like this because of that reason; you can see whether you are holding the gun perpendicular to a horizontal plane or not (lines, ground, etc.)  Patriot

I bought the same item a few years ago. That was the single most worthless thing I have ever spent money on, hunting wise.
