Which Hard Case for Airline Travel?
« on: September 10, 2004, 08:14:28 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm planning a trip up north in the near future. Any suggestions for the best airline-proof hard case for travel?

Regards

Owing to the horror stories I've heard, I don't know if there is such an "airline proof" case. Best preformance for the money would be the SKB cases. They are airline approved, very tough, and reasonably priced. They are avalible from most of the better mailorder places, Cabela's, Red Head, Bass Pro, Midsouth, Midway, etc. (check Midsouth first they usually have the best prices, and their shipping is very fast)

I prefer the pelican cases they are a little expensive but they are almost indestructible and they are lifetime warrantied.  I do not own any Browning travel vaults but I believe they are made by Pelican as well.  They appear to be exactly the same cases.  I have seen Pelican 1750 cases run over by pickup trucks and come out fine.  The way baggage handlers treat your luggage I would definite spend a few bucks on a good case for airline travel.

oneshotonekill,

.....you have to ask yourself just ONE question,.....

"HOW MUCH DO I LOVE MY RIFLE?"

That will determine what you will buy to protect it!

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out SKB. I knew about Pelican - they can be expensive - but seem to be the best "rifle armor" out there.

Another Pelican vote here----and yes they are quite spendy.
