I just bought a remington sportsman 58 in a 16 gauge. It has a 26" imp. cyc. plain barrel and is in mint shape. As far as performance, how does it compare to a 20gauge shooting 3" shells, does the 20 gauge outperforme it, it will be used for grouse hunting. Does anyone know it is built on a 16 gauge frame or a 12? I would also like to find a vent rib barrel and another set of stocks and forearms for it.

I have had two of the 58's ,one in French Walnut won in a shooting contest and I did not want to dirty more than Trap so I bought another ,both in 12 gauge and loaded for both, traded them years ago, fair gun.
