I'm wanting to buy a new shotgun and I've read a lot of catalogs,internet sites and it's really boggled my mind. I only can purchase one shotgun to last the next several years, so barring really expensive models. Could you give me some ideas. I'll be using this gun for upland ,waterfowl and deer.
Price range some were between $450-500.

Whats your price range?
Mossberg makes a nice priced combo gun.
Remington also has options.
I'm a Browning BPS man myself, love the fit.
Go with what fits the budget and you.

Look at Remington's website. They have an 870 Supermag Combo thst has a 3.5" chamber (will shoot ANY 12ga ammo) and it comes with two barrels, a 26" vent rib with Remchokes and a fully rifled slug barrel with rifle sights. Retail price is $523 but you could probably get one cheaper at your dealer.

I'd suggest a used Remington 1100 or 11-87 in 3" versions. The 1100/11-87 for it's versitility; used to get the cost down. You don't need a 3.5" SuperMag now that HeviShot in 3" is available (either from Remington or directly from Enviornmetal).

Another Remington fan and 1100 user here. However! If I were to recommend one shotgun that can do everything on a budget, there is only one real choice: Remington 870. Barrel and accessory choices are greater and more readily available and frequently less expensive than other shotguns. It is my opinion that there is a good reason most builders of custom tactical or other special purpose shotguns start on an 870 chassis and it isn't because they're cheap. There is no more reliable repeating shotgun.

remington 870 pump in the version you can afford.. my son is 18 last month and has shot two deer, geese and ducks with his express.. youll need screw in chokes with the game youve listed.. autos reduce recoil but need to be cleaned well, and wont function well withligt loads and will cost more.. several years ago a friend of mines mosberg chokes would not pattern to point of impact correctly.. my sons 870 had ejection problems and we took it to a reminton authorized gunsmith in your town, got it back quicly and have no more problems with it.. some makes may need to go back to the factory.. i never shot a 3 1/2 inch but if i was to get one id get the auto.. as thier heavier and will reduce recoil for that, and the auto feature will also reduce recoil.. but im guessing they will be out of your price range.. .. . good luck, dave..
