Savage / Stevens 21 ga 311 barrels

A friend of mine has a Sav/ Stevens 311 with ruined barrels.  He's wondering where he might find a replacment - we're open to recommendations ( yeah I'm watching the classifieds here).

Also, is there any issue with just adding a barrell onto the receiver or is there any smithing to do or other considerations?

just saw this thread....months old now.....I am curious.
How did things go? Was a barrel found?
