I had thoughts on investing in a .223 WSSM, or at least a WSSM series.  Anybody have experience with these cartridges, and how well they perform?  I read a story at Browning that this guy and his buddy were taking ground hogs at 800-900 :eek: yds with ease & w/ that cartridge.  I am really impressed with the velocity and accuracy attainable with certain bullets (has something to do w/ PPC characteristics.)  I know with Barnes bullets, it is possible to take deer w/ a 22 caliber bullet.  Just that shot placement is extremely vital if going that small.  But it is farthest from my mind to do so!!!  Any info and rifle recommendations would be appreciated.  Expense is really not an issue either.  Patriot

I have a Win. M70 Coyote in .223 WSSM.  I really didn’t care for the Browning or the Stealth models.  I didn't want a light weight rifle as I intended to use it mainly for varmints and target shooting.  The trigger needed some work as was rougher than I liked.  Accuracy is excellent.  The so called feeding problems and barrel burning out that so many like to say are a problem with the WSSM/WSM cartridges doesn’t exist.  I have/had a number of .22-250’s, .220 Swift’s, and .223 Remington’s and this rifle started out more accurate than any of them and has just gotten better with load development.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog

I agree with Lawdog. I recently acquired a Model 70 Coyote in 25 WSSM. So far, I've only shot one box of 85 gr factory ammo - sighting in and checking the accuracy of factory ammo. My first 100 yd 3-shot groups showed much promise. I chronographed the 85 gr factory at about 75 fps less than what Winchester states, but that's still impressive for the little short fat case. No feed problems whatsoever.

I am impressed with the quality of the rifle in general. Like Lawdog, I had to fuss a little bit with the trigger. It's now set safely to about 2 1/2 lbs and breaks cleanly. I hope to have some handloads ready soon to continue my accuracy evaluation. :grin:

just recieved my 25 WSSM in Mod 70 Featherweight. Have not recieved the dies or brass yet.  Will advise as work progresses.
