600,000 people in the entire state.  600,000 people on the interstate on the way home (1 hour commute each way so the kids can go to decent schools).

ATV/boat/afoot to hunt moose, deer, bear.  On the Harley with 600,000 people on the interstate.

Trees, mountains, tundra, PWS, etc...  600,000 driving past buildings for an hour to work and an hour home.

Lots of critters in the woods, yards, streets, etc...  Bear skin rug and a few other "memory critters" on the walls.  I spend an awful lot of time in the den looking at the critters.

I've already started saving up for a hunting trip back "home" (though the wife says "not no but hell no" to the question of moving back).  See you all sometime in the next year or two.

Gee, I think it is getting too crowded in Michigans Upper Penninsula.  Washington D.C would be a nightmare.  But glad to hear you are back in the States from the MidEast.

Good to hear from you Matt.

I start getting nervous driving back to the east coast about South Dakota. :)

Matt, so sorry to hear the wife says no way.   There's a really nice couple in our town but the wife just can't take the life (winter)  here.  This isn't to brag but it reminds me to be grateful my wife is happy to be here Bristol Bay and is willing to eat what I shoot and catch.  She hates the bugs and isn't eager to spend much time in a tent. But she hasn't said its time to move to Anchorage or farther south either.

Hope you can make it back up for some fun.

Ha Matt I can relate!  I married a service woman, and her last assignment was to the Pentagon.  We lived in Waldorf Maryland for the first year, that commute was rough.  Luckily at that point her office was moved to Bolling AFB, I got hired on Bolling, and we got base housing on Bolling.  We spent the next two years inside the beltway.  The only thing I had to do as a passtime was to shoot skeet at Andrews AFB.  My wife could hardly wait to come back up here.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
