Trapper Recoil Pad?
« on: August 06, 2004, 04:38:50 AM »
I think I want to put a rubber butt pad on my Trapper so it will grip the shoulder a little better.  With the hard factory butt pad, the gun slips too much when I work the lever.

Can someone recommend a good recoil pad for the Trapper? Thanks. adk.

ADK,

If you want to go "on the cheap", just get a sheet of skate board tape or some of that adhesive back stuff that they put on the bottom of tubs and showers to provide a non slip surface. They make the same stuff for concrete steps to provide a non slip surface in winter weather. Just trace a piece the size of your butt plate and stick it on. You can always replace it if it gets damaged. I've found it in Home Deopot

I've done that to several of my own rifles for the same reason.

Trapper Recoil Pad?

Good idea, and I have the tape too.  But I went to the range yesterday and fired a full load of H110 with the Speer 270gr GDSP, and found out that I'm going to need a recoil pad!  I'm going to try the Pachmayr size small slip-on first. It has just the right dimensions for the Trapper. Thanks. adk
