Sako Rifle & value
« on: July 28, 2004, 12:58:32 AM »
I received this e-mail and I'm trying to help a friend. Can anyone out there give us some information based on the following description?

SOME GUY OWED JOE SOME MONEY AND GAVE HIM A GUN FOR WHAT HE OWED HIM.  JOE WONDERED HOW MUCH IT WAS WORTH AND I TOLD HIM YOU MIGHT KNOW.  THE GUN IS IMMACULATE, THE STOCK IS LIGHT COLORED AND BEAUTIFUL WOOD WITH A BEAR'S FACE ENGRAVED ON THE  ROUND PART OF THE STOCK RIGHT BELOW THE TRIGGER.  THE TRIGGER HOUSING IS ENGRAVED WITH A LITTLE DIAGRAM AND A GAZELLE OR SOME AFRICAN ANIMAL IS ENGRAVED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BULLET HOLDER.  IT IS A SAKO 7MM MAG..  ENGRAVED NEAR THE BARREL IT SAYS IMPORTED BY STOEGER AND MADE IN FINLAND, SERIAL NUMBER AIII  WITH A 4X REDFIELD OVAL SHAPED SCOPE.  JOE THINKS ITS AN OLDER GUN BUT IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS BRAND NEW.  DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA?

In my neck of the woods you cannot buy a used (in good shape) Sako for less than 800.00.  This rifle has to be at least pre 1997 and with the light wood quite a bit older.  But with Sako rifles it does not make a difference as of age.  It is a Sako in mint shape.

Thatsa exactly why i posted the question o f the money owed... Sakos have some of the best resale value and im sure that Joes getting much more than what was owed to him... Sounds like a beautiful rifle and a steal.  Congrats to him.
