Hi there all,

Im jumping on the encore bandwagon. First problem is as they are not imported all the way down, so here I have one coming in as a one off - which costs. Secondly, to get bases/rings etc means they have to come from the States as well, so I want to get it right the first time. Who can recommend a good set of bases for a SS 7mm08. Can you get two piece or are they all one piece?

Is there anything else I should consider getting in as well to save hassle later?

Should be just the ticket with its long barrel/short overall length for the Big Red Deer, Himalayan Thar and Chamois (amongst others) that we hunt down here.

Many thanks in advance........

This is easy...go to www.midwayusa.com and get the Virgin Valley Custom Guns base as Reelhook suggested, the get the Burris Signature ZEE rings.  These rings have the plastic inserts, great for alignment and protecting your scope...ie no scratches.

Depending on your scope objective size, you may need the low, medium, or high rings.  On my custom bull barrels, I need high rings.  On my factory, with 40mm medium rings work.  I would post what scope you plan to use and what barrell.  Then we should be able to talk specifics.

Hello and Welcome  :D .  While you are at Midway USA you might think about a Limbsaver recoil pad.  It comes highly suggested from the folks here.  Good luck and good shooting.

Thanks for your advice!

7mm08 Barrel - Well I would like to put a compact on it - probably a Sightron SII 4x32 - so a need a base thats pretty much the same size as the leupold one piece base and rings that I have on a Rem model 7 260 thats wearing the same kind of scope. I had better have a look around for some spec sizes etc from various manufactuers.

Cheers......

With that combo, VVGC base and Burris Zee Rings(low) will be great.  Also, the limbsaver recoil pad is a good by as also suggested.
