What do you guys think of the Snake Charmer (.410)?I was thinking of getting one to carry for snakes will scouting next month..............Rick

I didn't know that Snake Charmers were still being made. A friend of mine bought one back in the late 1970's. We fired it a few times, and it broke. He had to send it back to the factory to get it fixed. About a month later it came back, and after a few more shots it broke again. I would use a handgun loaded with shotshells for snakes.

daddywpb,you probably talked me out of the Charmer :shock: .Pistol,I'm sure would be better,but the only ones I know of are the one by Serbu(I forget the name...shorty?) and the one that called Safe or something like that.H_ _ l,they cost more than some of my rifles and shotguns.Too high for killing snakes.Can you tell me of any oyher sources?...............Rick

You lost me on that one. I was talking about the CCI shot loads for revolvers. I carry a S&W .45 LC Mountain Gun loaded with my own handloaded shotshells for snakes. CCI just recently started loading 45 LC shotshells, but I like mine better. They are also available in 38, 44, 45 ACP,and 9mm. Very effective on snakes out to about 20 - 25 feet. If they're further away than that, I just go around 'em.

Iam not familiar with CCI,but will look into it.My revolver is a .357.On the two I named,they are true shotgun pistols,but cost is way too high.I thought of going to Walmart and getting a single shot in youth size (about 35" long).I could then saw off barrel a little(think the barrel is around 22") down to 18" to stay legal.Can get one for around $90.Don't remember what make,but really doesn't matter for what it is going to be used for........Rick

The CCI 357 shotshells should take care of your snake problem just fine.

Ihuntbucks,

Take a look at the H&R "Tamer",if your still interested in a .410 shotgun. It is simaler in looks and size of the Snake Charmer. The differance between the two is the Tamer is dependable. :-)
