Dirty Hunter
« on: July 14, 2004, 12:01:18 PM »
I received my new Super Blackhawk hunter.
While doing the initial cleaning, I found the gun to be extremely dirts.
The cylinder was dirty on every chamber and the bore took several patches to clean.
I know the fire the gun at the factory, but how many times?
The bore almost looks to have rust in the chamber.
Is this the way they all come?  Is something fishy here?
Please give my your opinions.

I've had three of the new Super Blackhawk Hunters and they have all been filthy.  They look like they had been shot a dozen times with ammo loaded with Unique.  It is normal for a handgun from Ruger.

Mine (Ruger) appeared as Chris was saying. Three shots alternating cylinders.

The one SBH Hunter I own is in .44 mag----all cylinders were apparently fired at the factory and the bore was in need of cleaning----but then EVERY hand gun I have ever bought new needed cleaning and lubing----even the ones which look clean should have preservative removed and then be properly lubed before use.   :-)  pg
